Smart film/glass, also known as privacy film/glass or intelligent film/glass, is a switchable film/glass used for adaptive partitioning in locations that require customized privacy. This modern system utilizes Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology to provide instant privacy at the flick of a switch through electronically controlled translucency. The liquid crystal molecules, in their natural state (when no electric current is applied), are scattered randomly, which creates an frosted (opaque) state to block vision and allow for full privacy. When electric current is applied, the liquid crystals are aligned parallel and the light pass through, creating a clear (transparent) state.
